"Doin' My Time"

I thought it was kinda funny. I decided to get some help redesigning the Jinko No website, and all the other sites I'm in some way affiliated with seem to be under redesign as well (except for UMAW) Milocule, the man behind my affiliate site NuclearTuxedo is redoing the whole site in flash. Jesse, co-founder of The Underground Trance Project, and the guy who is helping with JN, is redoing his site. It's madness I tell you. Madness!
Ok, not really. They'll all be way cooler once it's all said and done.

I can't believe Sakuracon is next weekend already! I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully, I'll see some of you there. Aponce is working on some flier designs for me to give out at the con.

Let's see. As for cool things coming out lately, I just picked up the Evanescence CD "Fallen." If you like Linkin Park, it's the same kind of dark, brooding sound, only with a female lead vocal. I heard this is the first album with a female lead singer to debut at #1 in a long long time. Nice to see the ladies getting props.
I also picked up the new Barenaked Ladies DVD, which is a collection of their music vids and some live performances. This is one of those bands that can only truly be appreciated by going to one of their shows. I'm a fan of their music, but to see them live is a whole different experience. It's not just fun music, but a hilarious stage show full of improv as well. The DVD is alright. It gives a taste of what a live show is like, but without showing any of the between song banter, or even putting a version of "If I Had a Million Dollars" on it, you just don't get the whole experience. The section with the music videos did have commentary by the band, which was pretty entertaining.

Well, there's only 3 weeks left for tax season, so I've been busy trying to cash in on the final days before I'm unemployed again.  I was hoping to take a small vacation after taxes but it seems that the judicial system won't let me.  Yup, it looks like I'm going to have to go to court...They want me to do Jury Duty!

I can't believe how difficult it's become to avoid it these days.  Before, just claiming you were a student was enough but lately, they just schedule you during your breaks.  I tried to claim financial hardship this time but they only delayed my turn, which was supposed
to start this week, until after taxes.  I may still have a last chance to present an excuse but I don't think they'll let me avoid it any longer.

Sigh...I've done Jury Duty before and I can't say enough how utterly boring it is!  You just sit there all day, only to get paid about $5 a day.  The only highlight of my court days back then was reading The
Great Gatsby while waiting for my number to get called.  Needless to say, I was going out of my mind. Not that F. Scott Fitzgerald is an awful writer or anything, but reading about the wild parties of the
Roaring 20's just sucks when you're stuck in a cramped room for several hours.  My biggest mistake, though, was accepting a court case.  I was only two days away from completing my manditory time and they said that the case was only going to take 3 days, so I took it
instead of going back to the waiting room.  It turned out to last 2 weeks and we nearly wasted another week trying to come up with a verdict!

I had hoped that I'd never have to serve Jury Duty again but sure enough, my number's come up once more. Funny thing is, I didn't even get the preliminary notice that allows you to make your excuse for dismissal...Just an appointment date to show up.  Now I'm supposed to call in the day before to see if my "group number" will be called in to attend that day.
With my luck, though, they'll want me to show up.  If I can't escape my dreaded fate, at least I won't make the same mistake of accepting any cases...I'd rather sit it out for 7 days than be a juror again!

So much for my Spring Break, huh?  Well, we'll see how it goes.  Maybe it's not too late to claim Mental Disability...
